Just another week in the life of Ellie...

I know I've been slow with posting, but this girl keeps me
pretty busy most the time. Ellie's just over 8 weeks old now,
so I guess that makes her close to 2 months.... crazy to think!
She is laughing and responding to us more and more.... and yet
is more and more independent at the same time. Her latest
accomplishment is that she has gone a week and a half with
solid night's of sleep. She has gotten at least 7 or 8 minimum
each night, which is VERY nice for me!

Apparently, she wasn't as into the book as I was.

She kind of reminds me of myself in this on, partly because
it's the kind of outfit my mom would have put me in, (she
even bought this one), and partly because she has that
classic "I'm about to break down and cry" face that is in
most of my baby pictures... ahhh, genetics...

Playing with her Daddy.

We didn't get very good shots of her in her costume
yet from Halloween because she was pretty sleepy
that night... for once! It was a cute monkey costume
though, complete with banana and tail.

Ellie wanted to represent for her 2 Army Grandpas,
her 4 Army Uncles, and, hopefully someday soon,
her Army Dad.

Just having some fun.... yes, we watch a lot of
Food Network together.

An Update...

As of tomorrow, Ellie will be 7 weeks old.
She's doing great... keeping us busy, as well as entertained.
Last week, she rolled over on the bed... from tummy to back!
The surface was slightly slanted, which helped, but it was
still impressive to watch. But then again, she's so wirey that
she's been rolling onto her side since her first week or two.
She smiles lots now, but whenever I get the camera out,
she just stares at it, and stops smiling, like the photo below.

Here she is in her swing, with the dolly she got from
her Grandma Garner.

This is me in my usual place, rocking Ellie over and over,
wishing she liked sleeping in her bed a little more...

A happy diaper changing break.

Here's Adam with his fresh haircut, executed by none
other than myself! It was my first haircutting job ever,
granted, it's the hard to mess up a buzz, but I'm still
proud of the meticulous care I used, ensuring that not a
single hair would be missed!

Ellie likes to chill. She always wants to be held, but
prefers to be sitting up, mostly on her own. I can't
wait till she can move around by herself... we can tell
she will be much happier then!

We just like this bear coat too much. She's adorable!

She wanted to model her Nike gear for Grandpa Garner!
Sitting in the chair on her own is also a favorite position...
she loves being independent!

This is Ellie in a cute dress she wore two Sundays
ago to church. I love how big her eyes look sometimes.

Sleeping Habits...

5 Weeks Old
Ellie doesn't like to stay still. We always start her out
at the bottom of the bassinette, but as she wakes up, she
pushes all the up to the top of the bed and gets out of
all the blanket that has been tightly tucked around her.
She's a wild one.

For some reason, any time she falls asleep with Adam,
she ends up in crazy, sprawled positions.
Here she is, apparently passed out from that
bottle by her head.

This is her sleeping on his forearm. She even rolled
herself to end up this way.

Here she is modeling the adorable hat that her Aunt
Joy made for her this week... finally something small
enough to keep that cute little head warm.

Here is a smile, finally captured on camera...
a little blurry, but cute anyway. She's been smiling
quite a bit lately.

One Month Old!

Ellie is one month old now. She's just as goofy and fussy
as ever, and her expressions are getting cuter and cuter.

She spends a little time in her swing, but definitely gets
boared of things quickly. It's a full-time job keeping her
entertained all day.

She loves to study with her Dad.

She got to wear her new coat to church on Sunday since it
was snowing that morning!

Last time Adam held her up like this, she dropped some nice
slobber right into his mouth. He got lucky this time...

Smiles

Toward the second half of this video, you can see the first in
a series of many smiles that Ellie gave us last night. You still have
to work a little to get it out of her, but she'll do it if she's in the
right mood, and it is very much worth the effort! Hard
to believe she's almost 4 weeks old already!

The First Week

Ellie has made it through her first week! She's very entertaining,
and we love having her. We also owe a ton of thanks to
Grandma and Grandpa for helping us get so well situated.

We had fun going on a picnic today down in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Ellie ate and slept for most of it, but we had a good time.
Everyone was enjoying climbing the rocks and just hanging
out together.

I had fun learning how to be a mom -- sitting back and watching
the festivities...

We did have a fun blow-out experience. But as Grandpa says,
many hands make for light work.

Grandma helped Ellie do some tummy time.

When Ellie falls asleep, she really falls asleep. This is how
she decided to lounge on my lap yesterday.

She also loves to cuddle. This is her spending time with her Daddy.

We also went up Provo canyon yesterday while Adam
went for a run.

She seems to enjoy sleeping in her carseat. She was knocked
out for a while after her doctor's appointment that upset her
greatly. It's hard to have people poke and prod at you.
